Trade Union Suora merges with TU, becomes Pro

NFU member union Trade Union Suora merges with the Union of Salaried Employees (TU) to form Pro, the biggest union for professional employees in Finland.

The final decision to merge was taken jointly at both TU:s extraordinary congress and Trade Union Suora’s representatives’ meeting on Saturday December 11.

The new union Pro will have 130 000 members and will be the biggest private sector union for professional employees in Finland. Apart from finance employees, the union has members in the industrial and services sectors. The idea behind the merger is to strengthen the unions’ impact and power.

Not all members from the former two unions join the merger. The 5000 union members at Nordea in Finland have decided to form their own finance union called Nuoso.
