Panel on competence development in Almedalen

In the beginning of July, NFU attended the Almedalen week in the medieval city of Visby to participate in The Finance Sector Union of Sweden (FSU-SE) seminar on technological change and competence needs in the finance sectors.

NFU’s General Secretary Arvid Ahrin participated in the panel together with Ulrika Boëthius (President, FSU-SE and Vice president, NFU), Eva Nordmark (President, TCO – The Swedish Confederation of Professional Employees), Jan Bertoft (General Secretary, Swedish Consumers’ Association), Gith Bengtsson (Head of HR, Swedbank) and Anders Ahlin (Advisor, Swedbank).

The panellists all agreed on the importance of training and competence development. It is a challenge to keep pace when the sector is changing and becoming increasingly digitalised. NFU’s Arvid Ahrin also emphasized that dialogue between trade unions and employers is key to tackle the challenges of digitalisation.

At the seminar, FSU-SE also presented their new study on competence development in the Swedish bank sector. The study showed that almost 40% of all planned competence development gets cancelled. Read the full study here (in Swedish).
