Nordic implementation on the agenda
The Nordic Council of Ministers, this year under the Finnish Presidency, has announced that the Nordic countries should be better at coordinating the implementation of EU legislation in order not to create any new obstacles for cross-border movement.
The Nordic Council of Ministers has therefore proposed that the country that holds the Presidency is in charge of screening new EU legislation in order to find those pieces that need a common Nordic implementation.
This line is something that NFU strongly supports and has pushed for due to the high amount of finance legislation coming from the EU since the financial crisis. In fact, NFU has a similar project idea in the pipeline that aims to look at the Nordic implementation of finance legislation with focus on the employee and consumer perspectives. It has come to NFUs attention that the EU legislation is interpreted and implemented somewhat differently in the Nordic countries which is key to follow up on.
