European Parliament demands to be key player in banking union discussion
EU bank supervision is a matter for the European Parliament, the Parliament says in a statement.
Even though the Parliament welcomes the two proposals on financial supervision presented by the European Commission, the Parliament questions that one of the two proposals will be decided by the Council of Ministers alone. The Parliament stresses the importancy of an open discussion, and wants to join the two proposals to one – which would make them both pass the Parliament.
